o1; always keep your heels down, it will prevent your foot
getting caught in the stirrups in an accident, i also find it easier to
balance in the saddle with heels down. Also wear a boot with a
heel it will also make it easier
02; if you're not comfortable with the horse it's most
likely the horse is'nt comfortable with you, no one ios making
you get on, mabie spend some quiet time sitting in the pasture
or round pen, barn etc.
03; never rush, take your time taking, untacking brushing, catc
-hing or trailering. Theres no need to be in a hurry. You're only
waiting for an accident.
04; when riding you should always let your horse be aware of
it's surroundings walk along the fence or just around never start
making your horse canter or gallop in a place they are unsure of.
05; never let your horse eat grass while mounted, once a horse
figures it can get away with something your horse will start bad
habits and be harder to control when riding.
06; in my (nichole) opionion it is never right to hit a horse,
not even when going in a trailer or even going over a jump i've
used crops and i've found they ruin the relationship between
horse and human.
07; always wipe off your cinch/girth with a moist cloth
cleaning it will help it keep grip and also remove dirt or hair that
can give your horse sores.
o8; always quickly check over your tack it's much more
reasurring for you while riding and it can prevent an accident if
tack is not kept in a safe place.
o9; if you're feeling uncomfortable or scared with your
horse get off ! no one is making you stay on, mabie work on some
ground work before getting on that way no one can get hurt.
10; even if your horse is eating or not with the bit in it's
mouth it's always good to clean it or wip it off. This just makes the
horse more wanting for the bit, would you like something in your
mouth that you ate and slobbered on a few days ago back in your
mouth ?
11; when riding english jeans are not the best choice for
wearing, jeans are extremely slippery on a flat leather english
saddle, breeches are more reccomended for riding english.
